Cork Crafts ideas to do with your kids

Writer's picture: Yazo GutierrezYazo Gutierrez

You, dear readers, know us and know very well that children's crafts are one of our strengths... Especially the EASY crafts for children, those that we can organize at a time with materials that are easy to find, and that are also perfect for children of all ages, from childhood to the next.

Not to throw away the cork plugs because they are a fantastic material for crafts...

Children's crafts with corks: horses

These cork horses are just missing the noble knight... maybe Don Quixote! They are made by joining several corks and then decorating them with a frame made with some nice fabric retal, wool for the tail and the crines and some moving eyes. They are very simple and the little ones can have fun making different animals with the same technique.

Children's crafts with corks: boat

A cork feature that makes it very interesting for children's crafts is that it floats, making it perfect for making small toy boats to use in the bathtub, in the pool, or even in the fish tank! What a monkey would be left decorating the ‟house" of our minnows! I find it an ideal variant to replace paper boats, which are very simple and quick to make, but unsyre resistant. In the link below the image you will find a detailed step-by-step tutorial with photographs.

Children's crafts with corks: circus

Tutorial: Molly Moo

This toy circus is one of those crafts that takes time, but the result is worth it, isn't it? I'd even have it as an ornament somewhere, so pretty it is. In the link below the image they explain step by step how to make a toy circus with cork figures, including the box to save them that also serves as a stage.

Children's crafts with corks: dragon and knight

With corks and chopsticks you can create many figures to play, the only limit is imagination! For example, I found this dragon and knight very beautiful, as well as singles. In the link below the image you can see the step-by-step tutorial, although as I told you, it is a matter of using imagination and finding the shapes that we need by joining pieces of cork and chopsticks.

How beautiful these cork keychains are! And besides, as their author says, they have the advantage of keeping the keys afloat if they fall into the water, which is something that somewhat distracted people can happen to us, even if you don't believe it. Taking advantage of the particular shape of the corks of the cava bottles or the like, we can create many characters that will then be enough to screw a python to put the keychain ring.

Children's crafts with corks: snake

More information: Domestic Candy

With cork slices threaded in a cordon we can make this flexible snake, which will also float in the water, for great fun of the little ones. Leaving a piece of long cord that comes out of the mouth we will even have the tongue already done without further work. Children can also paint it, to make it more colorful and personal.

As the characteristic shape of the cava corks told you, you can take advantage of to create characters, such as these cute cork mousses to which you only have to add two circles to make the ears and wired make the legs and the twisted tail, which will also serve as support.

Children's crafts with corks: stamps

Another creative way to recycle corks is to use them to make seals. We can cut many different shapes that the little ones can then use with temperas to make wonderful works of art. Letters can be made for the larger ones, which they can use to write messages.

What do you think of these childish cork crafts? As you can see, it's a material that gives a lot of possibilities, so from now on save the corks and release your creativity together with the little ones!
