The diet of dogs is essential for their health and happiness. However, there are many doubts about the foods that can be harmful or toxic for them, as with nuts.

Many times we make the mistake of thinking that our dog cannot feed only on a feed, and therefore, we give it our own food. This can become routine, so much so that the furry can reject the food that really belongs to him. However, we have to think that giving them certain foods can have serious consequences. Their needs are not the same as ours and we have to be very careful.

With regard to nuts, at first we would say that a dog should not eat them. This has to do with the fact that they are very small grains and our dog may have problems swallowing them without chewing. And also, because its high fat content can cause vomiting, diarrhea and even derived diseases such as pancreatitis.

What nuts can a dog eat? Of all the nuts, there are some that are more recommended than others. These are: walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts and peanuts. It is very important to know which ones they cannot take in any case: raisins and macadamia nuts. The latter two can cause anything from diarrhea to systemic failure.

How to give a dog nuts? It is also very important to note that dogs cannot eat nuts in any way. The best option is to mash them to avoid choking in a moment of craving to eat. In any case, we must use nuts as something that should sporadically complement the dog's diet, that is, we can use it as a treat as a positive reinforcement. We can also use the powder obtained from grinding. Of course, it is not at all convenient to mix them with feed. The best thing would be to mix it with other foods forming a homemade recipe and always offering it occasionally.
